Dreams to Dust
After many tears I threw my dreams away
I held them in my arms for days, weeks and months on end
I nurtured them, fed them and loved them.
I gazed on them in wonder as a mother does her newborn child
But as the days, weeks and months passed, I noticed them fizzle away in my arms
Fading away like dry leaves blown by a gentle breeze
Never to be gathered again
Fading away like a dimming star
