No, I haven’t left Medium

Well, not totally anyway. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

First off, apologies to my friends, followers and fellow Medium compatriots. The radio silence was not intentional. Sometimes, it makes sense to regroup and re-strategise.

What have I been up to?

Well, following the lead of some fabulous Medium creators, I decided to venture into the sale of digital products. I believe Medium is a place of great learning. But after learning comes action then practice and hopefully perfection and success.

Considering that I am just starting, this is by no means a success story. I am just here to humbly share a little about my experiences and journey, continue to learn from others and maybe inspire one or two people along the way.

So, what’s it been like?

If I were to answer this question honestly, I would have to say it’s been bumpy and rough. The main reasons for this are basically:

  • Starting an online business from this part of the world is anything but seamless. It’s rarely as easy as it seems and one tends to get frustrated with the fits and starts just to begin
  • Marketing and sales are another world. It’s just not enough to create. You also need to create what people need and get them to see your work

What process have I used?

So far, I have used amazon kdp to publish ebooks and low-content books. Success has been minimal and royalties tend to trickle in.

Recently, I signed up to Gumroad as well. While I have published my ebooks here, my main focus is selling my Canva designs for POD (Print on Demand) businesses. The idea is to create designs for people who prefer to focus on the production of apparel and other merchandise. This takes the hassle of the design off of them. I actually applied to be a Merch By Amazon seller but my application was rejected and I really wanted to be part of the program

How has the journey been so far?

It’s been slow. The waiting is the hard part. I keep asking myself if I am doing enough or if what I am doing matters or is useful.

What next?

Keep on keeping on is the mantra. I want to keep learning and practising and taking action. It’s the only way forward

Blessings!!
